back in july we spent a week at assateauge island
which means camping
there are ups and downs to camping at the beach with little kids
i say that that highs are very high, but the lows are oh so low
the first half of the week was very hot--but after some storms came through
the second half of the week was perfect
not much sleep happened--i don't think i slept past 6am any of the mornings
and was up several times each night with emelia
my mornings often started with an early morning trip into "town"
with whichever of the littles woke up first
luca and i wandered walmart very early one morning
and i think i was known at the dunkin donuts drive through by the end of the week
BUT, luca and emelia did amazingly well despite the lack of naps, later nights, and earlier mornings
the beach is beautiful, and it is so worth it to nearly have the beach to ourselves
i love going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the waves hitting the beach
and the stars on clear nights are astounding
i think i've been going there for 20+ years
time will tell if it becomes a tradition for our little family
but i do believe it's starting to get into mark's veins--once it does, you're hooked ;)
like i said in an earlier post, i forgot my camera
so jonalee took all of these
happy memories. can't wait for next year.
and i close with mark going on record saying he wished we could stay another week
:)
